About the Event
In an increasingly digitized world, the fields of data science and human rights are converging. New developments in statistics and data science are unlocking new approaches to human rights work domestically and internationally. Join UBC Associate Professor of Computer Science Dr. Kemi Ola, the UBC Human Rights Collective, and the Gender+ in Research Collective for a workshop to learn about how to use data visualization techniques to evaluate and represent human rights research in new ways!
About the Speaker
Dr. Kemi Ola is an Associate Professor of Teaching with the UBC Computer Science Program. Currently, she teaches introductory programming and visualization courses. Her research interests include removing barriers to learning, exploring common misconceptions through support structures, and studying socio-emotional factors that influence learning.
