About the Event

The UBC Human Rights Collective is pleased to support the Centre for Cinema Studies , in partnership with the Centre for European Studies, Cinema Thinks the World, Film Soc, and Ukrainian Student Union at UBC and Maple Hope Foundation for the in-person screening of the critically acclaimed film Intercepted (2024), followed by a director Q&A. The film reveals the full spectrum of war’s dehumanizing power—from illusions of heroism to despair, propaganda, and disillusionment, and offers a rare glimpse into both the brutality of aggression and the resilience of people rebuilding amid devastation. Following the screening, there will be a Q&A with director Oksana Karpovych, who will share insights into the making of the film and the urgent questions it raises about humanity and war.
