About the Event

Beyond Boundaries: Exploring Human Rights Activism Across Professions builds on the HRC’s Human Rights Defenders (HRD) Research Project led by Dr. Jenny Peterson and Dr. Lisa Sundstrom, seeking to broaden conventional understandings of what it means to be a human rights defender. It reframes human rights activism as a practice extending beyond traditional legal and policy spheres into diverse professions and disciplines, reflecting the evolving nature of advocacy. Through a panel discussion with professionals in STEM, business, education, social sciences, arts and grassroots community work, the event will explore how various practices can contribute to the advancement of justice, equity, and human dignity.
